Re: [sc-users] Future of the lists
Hi Scott,
thanks a lot for maintaining this list for such a long time and keeping the quality up!
For me is ‘being offline’ still a thing.
Consequently I have some 90.000 Mails on my HDD, beginning in 2009.
Because I’m not a ‘full-time’ or ‘hardcore’ SC user I need to refresh my memory how things work every now and then.
So I’m happy to refer to my local archive, esp. when being without Internet access.
I’m subscribed to scsynth.org in summery mode and didn’t visit this site for many months.
Just now I realised the last digest mail is from Feb 8 this year. No idea why, so I’ve to investigate.
This leaves my feeling a bit more uncomfortable about online fora with a mailing interface.
Also I experienced many mailing lists wandering off or being diminished by the emergence of largely redundant facebook groups.
Something I disagree with, as there is no maintained archive or an elaborate and reliable search function or such.
I realise there’s also a fb group for SC, I think I posted there once or twice, but I lost interest for above reasons.
Of course this is just my 2c and time goes on and changes are inevitable at some point.
Thanks again, Michael.
