IIRC when I build SC on both Pi Zero and Pi3
the make process stopped and being tired I just
halted it with cntrl + C and started over again
(doing nothing inbetween).
The second time it whet a bit further and after repeating
a few times it was completed.

It was a while ago and as I said my memory may not ...
I think i used make -j 4.

Try building with fewer cores.
