hi bruno,
this should be possible. the deprecation didn't happen until 3.9, and i don't think any changes were made to wii classes between 3.6 and 3.8. i suspect there may be a difference in the build configuration when you upgraded to 3.8. if you installed SC from an apt repository, i would recommend building SC yourself. libcwiid (which we depended on for linux support) vanished from the ubuntu repositories at some point, so i wouldn't be surprised if the maintainers had to disable wii support in the package. if you did compile SC yourself, check to see if you had the SC_WII cmake flag on.
