I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you mean, but if you're talking about mics/guitars/live sound/ etc, then yes it is indeed possible. I use a Soundcraft 12 MTK for the source (of the sounds/mics/guitars/whatever) and then in SC you simply have to remember to change your s.options.numInputBusChannels or/and s.options.numOutputBusChannels.
