Partially I agree, but on the other hand, you cannot directly compare with Tidal. As I get it, SC's pattern system is much more general and live coding is just one of the things you can do with it.
So you cannot expect that its basic building blocks are a perfect live coding environment out of the box. But as several developments within SC show, it is definitely possible to get such an interface with Patterns, resp. move it to the direction you prefer.
For me live coding had never been prioirity itself, I like to tweak synth and pattern control in order to search for sound textures to be used in fixed media works. Paradoxically, or maybe not, I was convinced that live coding can help with this very much. So I've put some effort in live coding tools: PLx, EventShortcuts, character sequencing (PLx and live coding with Strings), PLbindef / PLbindefPar (stuff and links are collected in Tour 6 of the help file 'Introduction to miSCellaneous'). PbindFx is also connected, as it handles fx sequencing and offers replacement options. All certainly not without idiosyncrasy but I tried to keep it as general as possible under my favored premises.
One might argue that finding personal improvements is not sufficient and SC's Pattern system would need a general solution to go to the tidal direction, personally I think that this cannot be expected and this is not necessarily bad, it still leaves room for further developments.
