Brian,
I think you should go ahead and implement this in the way you think best. I can’t speak for others, but personally I’m happy with that. My primary concerns were with the initial suggestions on this thread (% as a format operator and db instead of dbamp). I thought there was agreement about that in the end? I only offered ideas about string interpolation because you asked me to, not because I didn’t trust you, or thought I knew better.
As far as your anxiety goes, please know that I have been exactly where you are more than once over the years (as have many others), so I’m completely sympathetic. It is especially difficult to take when one has been putting in a lot of voluntary time and work, as you have. Know that that work is valued.
I hope you can accept that nothing i’ve said is because I do not trust in your experience or work, and that I am sorry if I have caused you distress. I would only say that if we are to have trust (which communities need), then we must also be able to trust that someone can raise an issue, be it general or specific to a proposal, or moot an alternative, or even ultimately disagree about the best course of action, without that being a personal attack. We have to try and trust that our primary motivation is to make SC better. I say this not to criticise you (which would be anyway hypocritical), but because I know from experience that if you can do that you will be happier.
Best,
Scott
PS Happy to talk more off-list if that’s of use. Equally happy to be quiet at this stage. ;-)
