Yes, there's some stuff with guis, maybe you've seen these:

Thing is that non-gui solutions rely on class Document,
you'd need either old SC versions or 3.7 for that.
E.g. my old pattern example from the thread below works again in 3.7 -
you can exchange the pattern commands by Synth commands in there:
