[sc-users] Live coding and MIDI control

Hi list,
I'm working on a setup I would use for a performance which is a mixture of
live coding and MIDI controllers. So, I have a SynthDef pool file I load at
the beginning, and I also configure my nanoKontrol so that the faders are
scaled from 0.0 to 1.0, and the knobs get the usual Midi cc range. I use a
lot of Pdef, Pbind, etc., and I get how I can pass a control bus
corresponding to a fader or knob via the .asMap method in my Pbind, which
works nicely with my faders, which I plan to use as volume controller, so
the range fits well. Now the question is: how do I map the knobs control
busses *provided* I want to scale them (say, linearly)? Typical situations
would be that I might want to map my knob 1 to an LFO freq in my Synth
controlled by a Pmono with a range 0.0 to 20.0, say. One way could be to
define a new bus, create a SynthDef with reads the buffer for knob 1,
provides the scaling, and writes to the newly defined bus, but it sounds
like a real hassle to do on the fly...
Anyone uses midi controllers during live coding? Do you hard code the busses
in your SynthDef, or else?
Thanks,
Alessandro
