It is possible to build just atsa commenting the few lines that checks for gtk in the configure file. Also is possible to download and patch gtk 1 and build atsh (tough not recommended).
The sources on GITHUB are basically the ones I had dealt with last, and GTK 1.2 is the version needed.
I have a binary app for OS X that runs under X11... if anyone is interested in that, contact me offlist. Analysis and the GUI for viewing the files both work.
