All quite interesting to hear of, thanks for posting.

In a month (after my dance/multimedia project premieres), I can start looking for the scene in Guangzhou.

there's some truth to that, but at the same time I know of several shops of self-published music that have to dodge the autorities or come up with some form of cover-up. media dessimination is just state controlled and you can get into trouble, though i don't think very seriously.

Ah yes, the "you're doing this without permission and we don't understand what you're disseminating, so that will make your life difficult" thing.

another thing is that to make computer music you need access to a lot of education, money and free time, so I didn't mean restrictive in only a political way.

Sure. I don't know which is in shortest supply. Maybe time.

IMHO the worst thing that happened was the boom in chinese art overseas that sprawled galleries dealing sub-par work that got commercial in no time while at the same time domestic demand is limited. it's just a bad environment for a middle class that's still very limited in scope and some very talented artists looking for their way.

Yeah... sometimes I think it's like nouveau riche over here. The ones who have money haven't the "cultural capital" to know what to spend it on.

I met Kenneth Fields -- he was at the Central Conservatory at the time, maybe he went to BeiDa later. At one point he mentioned some work in Canada; I don't have any idea either if he's still in China.

Yes he was also at the conservatory, you should check with him for the translations. I believe he was alo working with Dajuin Yao.

Will do - thanks for the tip!
