It's rather about replacing every occurence of the word "Gott" by "jenes
höhere Wesen, das wir verehren" ( and all its grammatical cases variants)
in a lot of recorded tapes with lectures of a famous literature professor.
Dr. Murke is the editor in charge of this time-consuming job. As relaxing
compensation for his work at a german broadcast station he collects cut out
silences of edited tapes.
