One question though...
It seems that with fast movements of the sliders or knobs, the controls don't 
catch up. With verbose on, the control messages show up fine though, so the 
problem is somewhere further down the line...
Hmm... this seems to be a consequence of softSet... maybe we should remember 
the last vals, in case we don't shift parameters?
