Thanks a lot, Dan, that's what I was missing.

There was one other problem with SCVim on Mac, which was getting the  
help installed. For some reason, the make help script hangs. I don't  
have any inclination to figure out why at the moment, but I thought I  
would let people know that I had a problem with it. However, I was  
able to build the help files on Linux and use the generated doc folder  
on my OS X setup.
