Re: [sc-users] Control signals to SC server

I think there is stuff in the language to deal with that. Check for example the GeneralHID class. also if you want to restrict the mouse to a certain part of the screen just make a window (with the gui) to cover that part of the screen and assign the mouse movements to the control you want of your synth.
I think building UGens is not what you need to solve your issue.

Dear all,

I am a new user of SC, struggling a bit under Windows XP.
I would like to use signals from external devices to control the execution
of pre-defined Synths. MouseX is an example of such control, but it does not
seem to provide the kind of flexibility in terms of programmation that I
need. A concrete example of this perceived lack of flexibility is the
impossibility for me to restrict synth control to a particular window or
area on the screen. Anyway, I intend to use signals from other input
devices, so the MouseX issue is not my main problem.

I thus think that at some point I will need to write my own Ugens... and
right now I just can't figure out how to even start with that (or just see
some example code from the MouseX/Y Ugens).

Could anyone point me to a tutorial geared at windows users? I have found
stuff for Mac users, but I do not know how to translate that into practical
actions under Windows. For example, how can I see the cpp files related to
the Mouse Ugens?

You will have understood that I am fairly lost, so I would *really*
appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,

Fabrice Morin
