exactly!
this is the path I thought I would go - create a new event type so we
can chain and then this will create the smf.

I was refering to the stream player approach as not the ideal way to
do things because the way things are done in Pattern:render (I think).

Each time render is invoked on a pattern it will create a Server
instance ( a dummy one albeit ) that does not get collected - just
sits there until lib recompile.

I will be looking at this soon as well.
glad there is interest so I hope we can come up with a nice approach.
