I'm not sure what you're going at...
On Linux, you compile against whatever libsndfile you have installed on your 
system, it has nothing to do with the libsndfile that is in the SC3 package.
I don't know how Olaf got his regular lib, and the dev-package, out of sync in 
his Linux distro, but apparently it can happen in rare cases.
