I usualy make a SendTrig with the Amplitude as Value, like:

SendTrig.kr( Impulse.kr(rate), 0, Amplitude.kr(snd) );

And then get it on the LANG side with a responder.  Don't know if it's the best way, but it works ;-)

Poll may do what you want, or poll and wrap the input in an Amplitude UGen... just a  couple ideas.
