I think you can already connect to the System-Announce port on Linux and use
it...
Just try it out.
(In KMidiMon I saw data coming in there... haven't tried yet within SC...)

oh i would really like to try it but i am on OS X... no Linux here...

that's why i was asking if you wanted to arrange something so we can hook something that would work for both platform in SC...

but of course this is extra and not needed work for you, that's why i wondered if it was _still_ worth the pain adding it.
