Re: [sc-users] Compiling problems
Worth noting is that I'm running on an Intel processor.
The problem is clearly with libsndfile, which I can't seem to install
correctly.
Here's some choice lines from the Terminal when it seems to go haywire
while using "compile.sh":
//********************************************************************
Ld "/Users/gregsabo/SuperCollider3/Intermediate Build Files/
scsynth.build/Objects-normal/ppc/scsynth" normal ppc
...
ld: warning in /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/local/lib/
libsndfile.dylib, file is not of required architecture
...
ld: symbol(s) not found
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
** BUILD FAILED **
//********************************************************************
It appears that libsndfile is configuring itself to the PPC
architecture when it installs, but that doesn't make any sense. Here's
the first few lines of the ./configure script for libsndfile when I
install:
//********************************************************************
checking build system type... i386-apple-darwin9.0.0
checking host system type... i386-apple-darwin9.0.0
checking target system type... i386-apple-darwin9.0.0
//********************************************************************
So I don't know why this problem is cropping up.
Please let me know if you need more info, thanks for the help

what are the errors? Can't really trouble shoot without knowing the

I'm having trouble compiling SuperCollider (3.1 and most recent
version) using any of the available methods (build script, XCode
steps). I always get errors and the build fails.
I'm running XCode 3.0. What's weird is that I compiled successfully
before I upgraded to Leopard using the XCode method.
I thought that I had libsndfile installed correctly (I followed the
directions several times) but I can't be sure.
