Hmm... I am not convinced yet.

Asking on the LAD-list, it seems setting
$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
in the environment is common usage.

I admit that I am not totally clear on this.

I just want to avoid weirdness when you move libs to other locations; the 
program should still be able to find them, when you have your LD 
configuration put correct.
