Re: [sc-users] More RAM, but still the audio glitch :(

Something else to check... I remember with the PowerBook G4s, setting the energy saver settings to Better Performance would often make difference. The trick is, you can't change any setting after that )or you will lose some of the optimizations). Dan... can you give that a try and see if it goes away?

For me it's definitely connected to launching new synths with new ugens.

My reproducible test case is attached - should be obvious enough, just
step through - note that for me it's only guaranteed to cause the
glitch if I reboot the laptop before trying it; seems that it's a
first-timer issue.

Blackrain's suggested fix seems to work great for me, namely to ensure
the plugins are compiled with G4 rather than G5 optimisations (G5 is
the setting chosen in the SVN Xcode projects). Seems not to matter
whether scsynth is compiled with G4 or G5 optimisations. This is
obviously (?) not the solution for cylob's machine though.

Do you get the glitches only when a UGen or Synth starts? Or while it
is already playing?

Do either of you have a reproducable example (e.g., boot the server
and do this ... it will cause a glitch). If so, please send it to the
list.

i'm still getting glitches on a macbook, less than before but still
some giant pauses. not much good during gigs. i'm going to devolve
to os x 10.4.8 soon, since it seems that 10.4.9 introduced the
problems.

Hi -

It seems like Ryan fixed the audio glitch problem for most people. I
decided adding more RAM might help me (512MB used to be
enough...), so
I've just added a gig, meaning now I have 1.5 GB of RAM.

But the audio glitch problem behaves exactly the same! :(

Anyone else still getting this, or am I genuinely the only person
left
with a problem?

Dan
