that is due to a known bug in stuffit expander.
try the tar command to expand the archive:
$ tar zxvf /path/to/file.tar.gz
or the BOMArchive helper if available in your system.
about places where to get the binaries, the wiki has some pointers
about this.
also, the main site, James McCartney's site, at audiosynth dot com
does have links to some sites with builds, ugens, libraries, ppl etc.

so i'm getting really frustrated here...
downloaded the wesleyan version, but all the help files are messed
up. of
everyone of them there is the original that is zero bytes, and
then there's
the right one next to it with a .1 in the name. but SC cannot find
that one.
so i have to rename them all....
sorry for the rant. i just want to work on music...

hi.
i'm having trouble running the wesleyan build, as there are quite
some parts
in there that don't run on my PPC powerbook. now i can try to
remove all the
stuff that's causing problems, but i would prefer having a more
barebones,
and more official version - only the official binary (from
sourceforge)
dates from january 2006, and there are some bugs in there that
seem to be
fixed in the wesleyan one. any chance of having someone post a
recent binary
for PPC without all the extra plugins?
(the option of compiling my own version was suggested to me, but
i'm not so
interested going into that, having to install xcode and all)
thanks,
robert
