yes, the gui is used to change or show the sequence, rather than actually store it. once you have the note information stored, you can use it for anything, like changing the values on a control bus, which could be mapped to synth parameters. i'm just using a routine for the actual sequencing.

i haven't felt comfortable composing in pbinds. you seem to have 
developed a flexible way to compose through a gui. could you talk a 
bit about the sequencing you use? it looks a bit like a tracker to me 
- are you programming melodic material there? programming synth 
automation, filters, envelopes, etc?
