Post scriptum:

At a time I asked myself if it would be possible to get the peak value 
(s) of a sound file - which is / are stored in the header of certain  
file formats - into SuperCollider.app via libsndfile via SoundFile  
class.

sndfile-info (UNIX utility, part of libsndfile) would show that  
information, but not SoundFile-readHeaderAsString in SC (yet?).
