-In the mean time it might have changed, but from the Max/MSP people I know
 that was the case some time ago. To what extent this is (still) true and
how it  relates to SC3 is probably best answered by JMcC himself, because
he's the author SC3 and works for Apple. I'm clearly not talking about
altivec-optimizations, but really using the separate floating point units.

If you're the owner such a machine it will very beneficial because it
doubles the theoretical processing power (approx. 40 gflops).
