| As this keeps coming up, hopefully these considerations will help put others minds at ease. -Intel Macs are the future, not a strange blip in the Mac line. -SC is open-source, and already runs on Intel chips (as well as AMD) as a Linux port, so getting this to work on Mac shouldn't be a lot of work. I'm getting a MacBook next week, and the first thing I am going to try and do is compile the Linux version with Scons, then work from there to get the XCode part to build. -As the pro models come out, more and more of the audio pros that use SC will be switching. -It already does run under Rosetta, though not as a 1 to 1 comparison (from the version Tim Walters (?) was running). It didn't sound tragic though. -As with any transition, it will take a little time before everything is smooth. I imagine it would all be faster if we all chipped in, and bought every developer a shiny new Intel computer to work on. Then, all the developers would have an immediate reason to work on this. -This project is maintained by a small group of people that do this out of the love of it. They have gotten amazing things to work when they are able to. There is no need to panic. And, there is no need to by obsolete hardware. -A good chunk of the people who work on this stuff like to show off. Any news about the work done will be posted. But my impression is that, the people that can really get this done, don't have the equipment yet. As mentioned above, developing SC isn't a high paying job. Hope that helps.
