The problem with that approach is that getting values inside a routine
usually requires synchronous operation--you ask for the value, and get
it back before proceeding. Reading a value from a control bus is always
asynchronous--you ask for the value, and you'll get it sometime later,
but not right now. The trouble is that the routine can't wait for that
value to come back. So it wouldn't work for what Esben is trying to do.
It's the same reason you can't do something like:
mySlider = SCSlider(...);
r = Routine({
loop {
// do something
{ mySlider.value }.defer.wait // no dice here
}
}).play;
-- because mySlider.value won't execute until after the .wait has run!
