Re: [sc-users] Graphics, Video and SC

I think that a connection of scLang to all other programs should be the first shot... especially because sclang is able to do exact timing, wh´hich is necesary for r/t multi-modal work...

I think, I'll have a look on VVVV for myself now ;-)

cheers

Just looking through the web page for _Processing_ which Till, Felix, and Larry mentioned, and they list a number of related projects:

Blender
Context Free
Design By Numbers
DrawBot
Eclipse
Inkscape
Isadora
Jitter
Myron & WebCamXtra
PD
Python
Scriptographer
VVVV

several of these have OSC support of some kind.
VVVV looks very interesting and easy to use. "Processing" also seems to be quite interesting, and it took me only minutes (using one of the examples) to get it to communicate with the supercollider server. The really big issues, it seems to me, is that int the end, it becomes necessary to split things up between several computers, and then things get rather complex . If I have an installation in SC, then somehow I have to tell my graphics programs which busses to poll, etc. If the intallation is constantly dynamically allocating and freeing busses, is the solution then to have all of the programs communicate with each other over OSC. Does that work smoothly? Has any one here had experience with this yet?

If anyone has had experience with this yet, I think quite a few SC users might be interested. I'm looking into this stuff more closely at the moment, and will also report back soon, perhaps with a vew examples.
