for example peak.Yes, I noticed that as well. What advantages exist to using this format instead of chunk size of 4 bytes and a typical frames count ?
who knows? really seems like a mistake, in the end.
anyway, marantz has finally offered a fix -- you can send the unit back to them, and they will perform an upgrade that will allow it to record in both the 'old' and 'new' wav 24-bit formats.
Is SuperCollider's parser affected by this in any way, for example loading these type of files into teh buffers ??
it seems to behave as if it were a normal wav file. as you see from a few posts, the file appears to be 'right', or it opens 'just fine' in a few programs, including libsndfile. in fact, it has a nice new layer of noise that would not be in the file if it were a 16-bit wav or if it were transferred via adc/dac.
thanks for your help, everyone, -bh http://bhobrainey.net
