That is of course possible, but not very esthetic.  When programming,
I actually prefer to declare variables only in the scope they are
going to be used in to increase readability.  A way to make the warning
go away would be nice.

The warning also means your code is going to run more slowly. I think if it's going to be in the main class lib, then easy optimizations (like writing if structures without internal variable declarations so that they will be inlined) should be used whenever possible... yes, at the expense of readability.

I will do so, if the warning can't be made to go away otherwise.

I'm still voting for a way to turn the warnings off as a user preference.
