Actually... if you look at Ugen-if, here is what it is actually doing:

    if { arg trueUGen, falseUGen;
        ^(this * (trueUGen - falseUGen)) + falseUGen;
    }

so, 1 gives you the true value, and 0 gives the false... everything  
else is a weighted average of sorts...
