Re: [sc-users] 48000 boot

yeah, i'm getting similar rate constrictions and it's not going away.
i just wanted to make sure it's the interface and/or its driver and not a limitation in sc.

i've had enough other problems with the emagic interface (clicks -- that i think are sample clock problems since they become fewer with 24bit output, audio input being sent directly to the output for no reason, the interface occasionally just disappears etc.) to finally switch interfaces and move up to firewire anyway.

anybody had positive or negative experience with the motu828mkII and sc? (specifically with regard to sampling rate and bit depth compatibility?)

best,
sean

sorry if this has been addressed before, but i can't find it right off in the archives:

i'm having booting problems with sc (build from middle of nov 2004) and my emagic a26 interface, which is supposed to be capable of 48k and 24bit, so far as i can tell.

i would like to boot for playback in 48k and 24bit.

when i boot with the Audio MIDI panel input and output settings at 48k 24bit it fails with this error:
<x-tad-smaller>booting 57110
mSafetyOffset 150
mNumberBuffers 1
mDataByteSize 0 4096
SC_AudioDriver: numSamples=512, sampleRate=48000.000000
start UseSeparateIO?: 1
AudioDeviceStart failed -536870164
start audio failed.
RESULT = 256

</x-tad-smaller>
it boots successfully with 44.1k 24bit so long as i leave the input setting at 44.1k 16bit. otherwise get nearly the same error:
<x-tad-smaller>booting 57110
mSafetyOffset 138
mNumberBuffers 1
mDataByteSize 0 4096
SC_AudioDriver: numSamples=512, sampleRate=44100.000000
start UseSeparateIO?: 1
AudioDeviceStart failed -536870164
start audio failed.
RESULT = 256
</x-tad-smaller>

is supercollider limited to 16bit input and 44.1k output? i know i can set the sample rate to 48000 in writing NRT output.
48k 24bit playback works fine using the emagic a26 and other software, such as motu's digital performer.
i've been considering finally upgrading to a firewire interface and getting a motu828mkII (also previously discussed on this list!).
anybody have any first hand experience on whether i can boot for playback with 48k using the motu828?

thanks for any tips.
