-I or rather we at Schreck always liked the idea of hooking
 many different machines (on different platforms where
 possible) to do different things, kind of
 parallel processing.
 Now SC2 is/was very nice; however ages ago, I guess about
 1998, JMcC was thinking of moving SC to an unix-like
 OS (originaly he intended that to be the dreaded BeOS,
 later perhaps Irix, now it's Mac OS X), because of
 the  possible  parallelization.
 I think that JMcC is in a much better position to
 answer this question more thoroughly, but I think SC3
 is a natural progress from the intentions of SC2.
