[sc-users] soundmanager playback doesn't work anymore

i use a vxpocket soundcard with its asio driver (2.7.4) and i'm having some
trouble switching back to soundmanager playback when i'm not using the
vxpocket for some reason.
when trying to set the audio i/o to soundmanager with the audio setup menu i
get a message saying "asio error: unsupported sample rate" or "asio error:
couldn't open sound input!"
when trying to play something the following error occurs: "There is no sound
driver loaded."

i've tried this with and without the vxpocket installed, with and without
asio drivers in the asio folder, trashed the preferences, reinstalled sc,
but haven't gotten soundmanager playback to work again.
asio i/o with the vxpocket works fine.

any suggestions?
