It seems that

set(STKDIR ${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR}/stk)

if(NOT EXISTS ${STKDIR})
  message(FATAL_ERROR "Should use submodule update to get Stk")
endif()

was not enought because /stk is already present before submodule update?
perhaps:


if(NOT EXISTS "${STKDIR}/src")
