Re: [sc-dev] 3.3

Regarding PlayBuf.

Since the discussion is increasingly about user friendliness, how about
adding an endPos in PlayBuf. SC2 had that.

The traditional answer is on the lines that you can easily do this with
Phasor and BufRd, and another answer is that you can download
LoopBuf and use that. I don't think either of these are good replies.

just 2 pence

As 3.3 will be the official book release, I'd like to make one more

I definitely think we should have an "alpha" before christmas, because there's some nice new stuff which should be road-tested. If we do that
soon, it bears no implication whatsoever on the actual date for the
final release!

Sure.

Anything else?

i think it would be nice to have SuperColliderAU in the distribution;
gerard is working on this.

I vote for this too :)

Similarly, I'd love it if scplug was in the distribution. It works
nicely; unfortunately there's an evil quirk in Safari that causes
crashes, which I feel is a show-stopper. Otherwise it would work in
Safari + Firefox + all moz-compatible browsers, and I'd definitely
have pushed for adding it months ago. Maybe sk has more on this.

I would like to add doneAction to PlayBuf, not done that yet.

Should we consider BufRd, BufWr, and RecordBuf as well for consistency? (See
the conversation about this with Julian)

I have already done RecordBuf. My feeling is that PlayBuf and
RecordBuf are the main ones to add it to, since they're the "easy"
interface to buffer r/w and so should provide for easy synth-freeing
etc. I wasn't intending to add it to BufRd/BufWr but don't mind if the
opinion is in favour of adding it to all.

I would also like to add the freqscope thing I mentioned for
displaying frequency response curves.

There was the extra parameter to "/done" messages which Jan was
perhaps going to commit.
