Re: [commit] Re: GrainUGens (was Re: [Sc-devel] adding UGens / classes)

There is Warp under control models. FreeVerb1 is the class FreeVerb that Chad and I made a ways back, and is still in my extension library. Both Warp1 and FreeVerb1 have been around since SC2, and while there is already a breaking of code as a result of the removal of Warp2, Warp1MC and Warp2MC from my lib, I thought it made sense to minimize the damage.

I agree about the number naming convention... not sure if it is worth changing these at this point though? I JUST released these about 10 minutes ago... more later... need to run!

hi josh,

just a thought about the Warp1 name: if you have removed Warp2 from your lib, and if Warp1 is going into the standard dist, then why not just call it Warp? If there is no other Warp* out there, then Warp1 is confusing as a name.

besides, there are too many ugens that use numbers in the name, when a more descriptive, maybe longer name would be easier to use. saving a couple of keystrokes is a false efficiency if i have to look in the help files to figure out which numbered version i really need. your naming convention for the Grain* ugens is great, and should be consistently applied to the others.

and for consistencies sake, why FreeVerb and FreeVerb2? where is FreeVerb1? btw, i am really happy to see these reverbs going into the main dist!

OK: Just committed Warp1, MoogFF, Pluck, FreeVerb, FreeVerb2, GVerb, GrainIn, GrainSin, GrainFM and GrainBuf. Helpfiles for all are also uploaded. I now need to update sc3-plugins and the realizedsound snapshot. Then I will announce the additions and the breakage of Warp1 (and the removal of Warp1MC, Warp2 and Warp2MC from my extensions).
