I've got the solution to this, but committing it now would require 
everyone to upgrade their tools. We will need to do this at some point 
anyway though.

But for now, here's what you need to do.
In Targets pane for target libscsynth in ExpertView add a line:
GENERATE_MASTER_OBJECT_FILE=YES
Also in the Files pane, for target scsynth you need to check the box 
for libsndfile.a.
