there was a good reason why James put it in there. if you do a
Synth.write, it all still worked -

that's a good point.  but now i can't see how .write can happen in an
accelerated fashion with patterns, scheduled events and all that.
i suppose if you schedule all events with the server at the very start,
then the server can render all that to disk as fast as it can.

so now, i still say that scheduling is not the domain of the Synth,
but of the various clocks.

and Synth.sched communicates that.
sc3 will be different here we can use all kinds of clocks.
